"Cummingtonite" is the second episode of the C Series of QI and the 26th episode overall. It was first broadcast on BBC Two on 7 October 2005. It featured the first appearances of Andy Hamilton and Doon Mackichan. The episode was preceded by "Campanology" and followed by "Common Knowledge".

  • Mackichan swam the Channel in 1998; Captain Webb was the first man to do so in 1875, he was smothered in goose–fat in order to insulate himself.

  • How big is a platypus?[2] - A platypus, technically speaking, is a genus of beetle, not to be confused with a duck-billed platypus. The latter has no nipples, but instead sweats milk.

Task[]

Contestants were offered the chance to gain 50 points by breaking a glass by singing, which is possible but incredibly difficult. Alan Davies managed to break his glass, but Fry revealed that Davies had been given sugar glass.
